Episode 24 of the “Ask a Question” Show: How Do I Identify Healthy People?

FAQs about Narcissists

In this episode Anonymous asks how to identify healthy people. She’s struggling with paranoia, wanting to isolate herself, and feels she can’t trust again.

I give my response, and I hope that you’ll give yours too in the comments down below. Let’s see if we can help Anonymous out of the paranoia and fear and into trust and comfort!

Disclaimer: I am not a therapist, doctor, attorney, or expert in Narcissism…or anything at all really. If anything, I am a student of life, love, behavior and behavior change.

I am also a former advocate of victims of domestic violence, a former victim of Narcissistic abuse, and am currently a psychiatric nurse.

Remember: You are not crazy. You are not alone. And yes, you really can heal from this.

I am a self-help junkie, former advocate for victims of domestic violence, current psychiatric RN, as well as being a recovering victim of Narcissistic abuse.

My goal is to educate, empower, and inspire other abuse victims in understanding more about what happened to them (and how to prevent it from happening again), as well as how to go on and rebuild an amazing life.

Even though I have had a lot of "in the trenches" experience with highly manipulative people of all kinds, I consider myself to be a student of Narcissism, mindset, motivation, healing, and life in general, and am by no means an expert on any of these topics.

It's for these reasons, that when you are reading my information that I encourage you to hold to what helps, and let the rest go.

  1. I’m very grateful for this video. I’m about 4 to 5 months out of my manipulationship and I’m still struggling with trust issues, both of people I already know and especially new people, strangers. How can I trust people to be genuine when I met and married the most fake person ever etc. It’s gradually getting better. I’ve reconnected with an old friend whose ex is an NPD and she’s been tremendously supportive. I’m branching out to try new things and meet a few new people through my congregation, taking it slowly. It seems like I will never trust again but when I look back I can see I have made a little bit of progress so I know it DOES get better. Filter, filter, filter who you’re spending time with! Know the red flags and if you see them cut bait! You do not owe your time to anyone. 🙂

  2. All you can do, is all any of us can do–and that is to go slow and realize that there are some really manipulative and destructive people out there–many of which are wolves in sheep’s clothing. And to also realize that these people are REALLY good at being manipulative and that often times they may still enter our lives–and that’s okay. Don’t beat yourself up over that if it happens. What matters most is that you once you spot them you cut bait and drive on! <3
